If you listen to her, the few times she talks, she already sounds pretty upset. There's a few tell-tale sniffles in the background as well. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if she HAD already tried to reason with him about how much time he spends on the game. I play WoW as well and just recently had to reassess how much time I spent on there. It was insane. Yes, by all means play it to chill out after long days at work or spend a couple of hours talking to friends. But there's little doubt that some people are TOO involved in the game.

Judging by the way the guy reacted, I'd say he was one of them.

Heh. Shallow here but I'd have liked to see what SHE looked like before judging if he should have been spending that much time on WoW. You could tell he was a douche though.

Of course if he had kept a level head and not destroyed his monitor he could have gotten his characters and items recovered... still would have missed the raid though.

If that was my woman she would have been kicked out on the spot....no questions asked. As for anything of hers in the house I would off her a beer as i'm sitting next to the bon-fire i would have created out of the crap.

I play wow so I know just how much time goes into making a high level raiding toon. And before anyone trys to say it has consumed me....it hasent. I play maybe 2 or 3 hours a night after i get off work from my 10 hour shift. It's how i relax.

Lol, owned. I played WoW before, so don't say I don't understand hard work. WoW consumes your life, I know from experience. She probably saved him a lot of trouble later, provided he doesn't try to start again. But seeing as his computer is probably out of commission now, I wouldn't say he'll be doing that any time soon.

Consumed him... hmmmm...
Those characters at high levels with the amount of gear can represent hours upon hours of work. Sitting at that computer, tracking down creatures that hold the best gear, finding the sweet spots for mining or other skills used. Day after day of play with friends. Slowly working and building them up, going through quest after quest which can be annoying at times but are done to level up and get better stuff.

Asking for help from friends to improve stuff. Having buddies on there that you might not see face to face ever, but who are indeed your friends that are counting on the abilities of those characters to be there in that next raid.

Constant tinkering to make sure the character is working just how you want them to.

That being said I can understand her frustration at being "alone" in a relationship. But this represents the destruction of months if not years of work. If he was a painter and she torched all his finest works on the front lawn people would be shocked, if he was a writer and was close to finishing a novel or well on his way and she shredded it along with all his notes on it, people would understand more, but because it's a game people just shrug it off. This was something he probably loved and was an escape for him from everything else in his life and if she couldn't share that with him... if she couldn't understand that then destroying that work does nothing except for drive a wedge between them. One that will never go away.

How could he ever trust her with anything again if she has that little respect for him and what's his?

If she didn't feel she was getting enough attention then they should have talked things through and worked it out or decided to split up rather then taking it out on each other.

This could be staged.. but for those saying it probably is fake, you probably don't raid high end.

Assuming it is real: He had a raid that night, judging by his gear and amount of characters that are geared, he plays A LOT, and he was pissed for two reasons. His characters were gone and he was going to miss a raid that also have many possible reasons for pissing him off.

Point is, the game has consumed him :P

I know that ultimately it's just a game, but his girlfriend should either talk to him or break up with him if she has a problem, not turn a substantial portion of his time a total waste (which I guess you could argue it already was), I wouldn't be surprised if he did the same to her as the monitor when he found out, which he will...
